By: Jenny Brown/Shareably Anna Rozwadowska is a teacher in Poland. Growing up, she never considered herself a “creative” person. She never felt she was exactly artistic, but things changed the moment she purchased her first DSLR camera. She slowly developed a hobby and passion for photography, and when her two children, Jacob and Barbara, were born, she knew exactly what she wanted to do in her spare time. She wanted to photograph her kids!
Now, whenever Anna isn’t teaching, you can find her photographing her children. By now, she’s taking hundreds of thousands of photos.
One year ago, a thought occurred to Anna. Rather than take “normal” photos of her children, why not get creative and make it a unique experience? Inspired by photographers all around the world, Anna sought a unique way to document her children’s childhood.
Thus, she started creating magical costumes for her kids to wear herself. Every single outfit for photo sessions is hand made by her – except for the shoes.
While these costumes might look incredibly elegant and expensive, Anna finds the cheapest fabric available. She’s a very budget-conscious mother!
Some of her costumes are influenced by popular movies and pop culture. Take a look at this Jedi in-the-making below!
Other times, Anna uses her imagination to bring storybook fantasies to life.
Despite these photos being incredibly high-quality and stunning, Anna admits that each photo session “lasts no longer than 10 to 15 minutes.” Her children simply do not have the attention span for more.
She says, “when it comes to my daughter, aged 3, 5-6 minutes MUST be sufficient.”
Every one of Anna’s photos is a candid shot of her children, even though it may not look like it.
“I never pose my kids,” she says. She prefers to let them choose their own way to tell the story. Anna just provides the setting and costumes.
It’s quite clear that they are naturals. Barbara was destined to be in front of a camera!
Anna’s head never stops working. While taking photos and editing might seem tiring, Anna says her “head is full of ideas for the next pictures” by the end of the day.
She sighs, “If only a day was longer.”
