In Thailand, there is a new unique way to interact with nature during your next vacation. The Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort gives guests a different opportunity to spend the night with elephants roaming freely in their natural habitat. These transparent Jungle Bubbles make the perfect way to see elephants up close safely. And it allows for great stargazing as well.

Designed by Eye in the Sky, 2 Jungle Bubbles sit atop raised wooden decks and are constructed from high tech polyester fabric. These 235 square foot dwellings are fully air conditioned, and visitors can remain snug and cozy while viewing the elephants go about their natural routines. Each bubble includes a bedroom with a king bed, and a living space with a seating area. It also features an enclosed en-suite shower and vanity. Aside from the unique rooms, guests can also enjoy all the luxury amenities the resort has to offer, which is perched on a hill overlooking the Mekong and Ruak rivers.

This experience is the main attraction of the 160-acre elephant camp in Chiang Rai.The elephants have all been rescued from the city streets of Thailand, to live out their days trouble-free in their natural habitats. The resort works hand-in-hand with the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation, to protect and support the elephants, and provide income for the trainers (mahouts) who care for them. Mahouts are also trained in positive reinforcement techniques for therapy provided for autistic children, using elephants,  by the camp’s research center. The mahout families are also offered education for their children, English lessons, and the privilege to earn 100% of the profits from the sale of garments from a traditional silkworm business.

The unique offering of the Jungle Bubbles is the hope of the resort to set an example for other elephant camps to find ways for the public to be able to interact with elephants in a non-invasive way. Guests of the resort can purchase the Jungle Bubble experience for about $570 per night for 2 people.Included are a scrumptious dinner treat, a 24-hour in-room dining service, a fully stocked mini-bar, and tea and coffee making facilities. It is a separate and optional activity for the resort guests. If this appeals to you when visiting Thailand, do book in advance. Have an “elephant” sized, awesome time.
