We all went through school with certain teachers we just can’t forget, for whatever reason. Veronica Duque is such a teacher, and for the right reasons. This dedicated teacher decided to make anatomy class more interesting, and take it to a higher level. She wore a full-body suit that mapped out the human body in great detail. It goes without saying that her students were pleasantly surprised, and definitely interested in the lessons. Veronica currently teaches third grade and constantly look for ways to make the lessons more interesting. “I was surfing the internet when an ad of AliExpress swimsuit popped up. Knowing how hard it is for kids this young to visualize the disposition of internal organs, I thought it was worth giving it a try,” she explains. Well, it definitely must have cost a couple of hundred bucks but this 15-year veteran teacher did not think twice about the costs if it was for the benefit of the kids. It is gratifying to know that some teachers go the extra mile for their pupils, true dedication and love of the profession.
After some shared pics by her husband from the class lesson, Veronica instantly went viral. She became a symbol of creativity and dedication, and many shared their admiration. Some of those who reacted seeing the teacher in her suit, mentioned Slim Goodbody, a fictional character created and performed by John Burstein in 1975. Burstein has been championing children’s health for over 40 years. His productions are watched by millions of children on Discovery Education. Whether Veronica was inspired by Burstein or not, her dedication to her students is really amazing. “I’d like society to stop considering teachers to be lazy bureaucratic public servants. We’re certainly not,” she mentions. She still tries to find other ways to make learning fun and appreciated. “I decided long ago to use disguises for history lessons,” she explains. “I’m also using cardboard crowns for my students to learn grammatical categories such as nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Different grammar kingdoms, so to say.” Surely the students of this 43-year old teacher are extremely lucky to have her and they will never forget her. Some kids have all the luck.
