Olivia Newton-John Shares Devastating News After Doctors Confirm ‘Pain’ Is Actually Much More Grave

By Varvara Budetti/Liftable After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and going through treatment, Olivia Newton-John successfully beat it. Unfortunately, she recently shared some devastating news on Facebook.

“Olivia Newton-John is reluctantly postponing her June U.S. and Canadian concert tour dates,” the post read. “The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour, has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum.”

There is a long road ahead of Newton-John but she is ready to start her treatment. She previously underwent a partial mastectomy, chemotherapy and breast reconstruction and will now be starting a combination of natural and radiation therapies.

“In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy,” the post said. She is already looking forward.

Newton-John “is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows.” Although the actress has postponed her upcoming shows, new dates will be announced soon.

The Facebook post also included a quote from Newton-John herself. “I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” she said.

“She plans to be touring in August. They’re all very positive,” someone close to Newton-John told People.

Evidently, Her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, is also hoping for her mom’s quick recovery.

“I love u mama … Will all of u send healing prayers for my mamas back please,” she wrote on Instagram. “I believe in the power of positive thinking and energy. Love u all.”

Newton-John also lost her sister, Rona, to the same cancer in 2013 and has been moved by that loss. The diagnosis of the relapse has been devastating, but she beat cancer once and is fighting to do it again.

“I’m so lucky to be here, and I treasure every moment of it,” Newton-John said after beating cancer the first time. “I don’t take anything for granted.”
