China always seems to continue to shock the rest of the world. Aside from their disturbing stance against human rights and freedom, comes another shocking revelation. They use live hogs in inhumane animal testing – subjects for crash test dummies. Half of the pigs used perished in the tests, the others were severely injured. It seems the Chinese don’t believe in animal welfare rights. Images released with the case study highlighted one test that involved 15 young pigs strapped to car seat via different types of seat belts. According to the research scientists, it was necessary to use the young pigs as their body resembles that of a child. They wanted to study how the crashes would affect the organs of the creature. What do they think the effects would be? They claim they were compliant with US guidelines and assert that their study was approved by an ethics committee. Well, something was definitely lost in translation about US laws. It has been illegal to use pigs and other animals for these types of testing since the 1990s.
A PETA spokesperson, Zachary Toliver contends that these experiments were cruel and senseless. “Despite the existence of sophisticated animal-free models, experimenters continue to fasten abused, frightened animals into car seats and crash them into walls until their bodies are bloody, bruised, and mangled. Live pigs are pulverized in these tests, leaving them with broken bones and severe internal injuries before they’re killed and dissected,” he said.
Toliver adds, “Pigs don’t naturally sit up in car seats. Their anatomy is also very different from that of humans, so the data obtained from these horrific animal experiments aren’t applicable to human car-crash victims. Car companies figured out years ago that these kind of experiments are worthless and tell us nothing about a human experience in a car crash.”
Pigs are very intelligent animals, some contend even smarter than dogs. Pigs in a slaughter house seem to realize their fates, can you imagine how it affects them being used in experiments which will kill them or damage them badly? The Chinese should learn more about pigs and other animals. The international community should put a stop to these atrocities. Earlier on, Truth Theory reported on some disturbing footage leaked from a German pharma laboratory showing monkeys and other animals being abused and tortured. The facility is now under criminal investigation for animal cruelty.
